For his debut on the bench of the Indomitable Lions this Saturday against Cape Verde, on the occasion of the 3rd matchday of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, coach Marc Brys will normally be accompanied by a mixed staff.
While the Fécafoot wanted to impose its entire staff on the Belgian, and the Ministry of Sports wanted to impose its own at the same time, and the hypothesis of seeing Brys alone on his bench had even emerged, a compromise was reached. Diplomatic, the Belgian, who assured that he had no issues with both frameworks, agreed to compose a mixed staff, even though it favored the ministry.
Thus, according to Canal 2 International, the new coach of the Indomitable Lions sent on Friday to the match commissioner mandated by FIFA the list of players and staff members who will take their place on the bench against the Blue Sharks.
On this list, we would find David Pagou, assistant #2 in the Fécafoot version of the staff, and Narcisse Tinkeu, physical trainer in the Fécafoot version. However, Martin Ndtoungou Mpile, assistant #1, goalkeeper coach Carlos Idriss Kameni, Team Press Germain Noël Essengue, and the general coordinator of national teams Benjamin Banlock, all stamped Fécafoot, are not on this list.

Still according to Canal 2 International, it remains to be seen whether David Pagou and Narcisse Tinkeu will make the trip as they did not take part in the preparation for this match against Cape Verde, which will take place at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé. At first glance, however, the list has indeed been transmitted to FIFA, and the threat of a forfeit that had gained momentum in recent days is therefore to be dismissed. Unless there is yet another twist from the Fécafoot, which has nevertheless assured several times that the match will take place…
