As the technical staff of the Cameroon national team finds itself in a chaotic situation just two weeks before the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, a key player seems to be heading towards withdrawal.
The situation surrounding the team’s management has shifted from critical to absurd with Marc Brys being once again removed from the FIFA file.
This removal follows Brys’ suspension by Samuel Eto’o and the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot). Despite this crisis, the matches against Cape Verde (June 8 in Yaoundé) and Angola (June 11 in Talatona), counting for the third and fourth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, are still scheduled to proceed.
However, according to the Cameroonian press, central defender Jean-Charles Castelletto (27 caps, 2 goals) could miss the upcoming camp. Suffering from a calf injury since May 7, the FC Nantes player is unlikely to recover in time.

If confirmed, Castelletto will likely have to be replaced by another player, despite being included in the 31-man list provided by Marc Brys to FIFA through Fécafoot. Cameroon currently tops Group D, ahead of Cape Verde and Libya, all with 4 points. The Angolan Palancas Negras are in fourth place, ahead of Mauritius and Eswatini.
