Carlos Baleba, long pursued by FECAFOOT, has finally opened the door to a call-up to the Indomitable Lions. A genuine revelation at Brighton, Baleba has been performing wonders in England since his transfer from Lille last summer for nearly 27 million euros.

Following more than convincing starts with the Seagulls, his absence from the Cameroon squad during the last AFCON indeed sparked a lot of controversy given the Indomitable Lions’ midfield performances during the tournament.

Long pursued by FECAFOOT, Carlos Baleba has finally said yes to the Indomitable Lions. After previously declining invitations from the coaching staff led by Rigobert Song before AFCON 2023, the midfielder has changed his mind this time. After discussions with the player and his entourage, he agreed to represent Cameroon’s national team.

Indeed, the site Africafootunited reports learning from a family source that “the Brighton midfielder was convinced by Marc Brys, and is now willing to play with the Indomitable Lions if called up.” He is therefore ready to be on the list of players called up by the Belgian technician for the double confrontation against Cape Verde and Angola.

Carlos Baleba began playing football at Futur Soccer in Douala. He then spent some time at Grand Moulin before continuing his development at the Brasseries Football School, also in Douala. In January 2022, he left Cameroon to join LOSC before moving to England a year later. At just 20 years old, the Brighton Player of the Month for April has already made 24 appearances this season in the English Premier League. The Douala native is thus set to start a new chapter in his career, the international stage.
