Cameroonian international Choupo-Moting has given his opinion on coach Marc Brys after the first training sessions.

In preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, following conflicts at the highest levels of FECAFOOT’s leadership, the Indomitable Lions have commenced their training.

During a press conference, some players shared their views on the new coach. According to Choupo-Moting, “It’s the beginning, and we are starting to get to know each other. For me, the first few days are very positive. The most important thing is that he communicates with us and tells us what he expects from us. After that, the most important thing is the next two matches […] but for a start, I have a very good feeling.”

Regarding Kevin Nkoudou’s perspective: “It’s the beginning for the new coach and his staff, and as usual, beginnings are very complicated. We need to give the coach time to put his mark in place, and it’s also up to us to respond on the field. In any case, the first days are positive.”

The upcoming two matches are crucial for Marc Brys’s future. After narrowly escaping dismissal by FECAFOOT and being saved by MINSEP, he will need to demonstrate competence or risk being booed by Cameroonian supporters.

As a reminder, Cameroon will face Cape Verde on June 8, 2024, and Angola on June 11. Cape Verde demonstrated its talent during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations by qualifying for the tournament’s final stage after defeating Ghana, Mozambique, and drawing with Egypt. They finished their journey in the quarter-finals after being defeated by South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
