“The forward of the Lions was candid with the press at the end of Wednesday’s training session, considering the tumultuous context in which the current stage is unfolding.

Cameroonian football has been in deep crisis since the end of the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast. A situation that worsens after numerous twists and turns. The FECAFOOT on one side and the MINSEP on the other, they don’t speak the same language.

Despite this situation, Choupo-Moting is very calm and optimistic for Saturday’s match. The vice-captain of the Indomitable Lions addressed the crisis between the Cameroonian Football Federation and the Ministry of Sports.

“We have a very difficult match but we have a good group and good atmosphere, and that’s the most important thing. Everyone sees and hears what’s happening, but we’re here to play football and that’s the most important thing.

We’re here to play football, not to play politics. We train, and that’s the most important thing. We’re aware and we’re playing at home. Here at home, the goal is always to win, that’s clear.

We ourselves expect to win every match here at home (…) the atmosphere in the group is very good and that’s the most important thing. We’re very happy to be here in Yaoundé. We don’t pay much attention to the problems around us. It doesn’t concern us too much. We focus on ourselves,” said Choupo-Moting after the training session on June 5, 2024.”
