In our previous publications, we addressed statements attributed to coach Claude Le Roy regarding the president of the FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o. We have just learned through colleagues at 237 online.com that this was a fake news.
“The president of the FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o, is the greatest footballer in Africa. Thanks to him, Cameroonian football has the chance to have visibility.
This young man is born to help his country in all aspects. Samuel doesn’t like falsehood. He never holds grudges against anyone.
He is a hard worker, a product of excellence. I don’t understand why some Cameroonians who don’t love football come to stifle this noble discipline?
Others have seen that Samuel is not accessible for things that drag Cameroon down. They have then found it better to attack him at CAS and take a lot of money from him through ill-conceived lawsuits.
I would tell him to do what he has to do and ignore the low blows of these small people. Cameroonians have finally understood that their idol has the conviction to work because 48 million is not 11 million.
Footballers should also not accept to play without being paid. Samuel is there for them!” These are the purported remarks attributed to the French coach. After this made headlines, our colleagues at 237 online.com contacted Claude Leroy to confirm this. But the latter responded that it did not come from him.
“These remarks are not from Claude Le Roy. Contacted by our editorial team, the French coach vehemently denied being the author of this text. ‘I have never written these words, it’s pure invention,’ he protested,” the media reported.
It is clear, therefore, that Claude Leroy has been a victim of identity theft. Who then is the author of these remarks? This is the question that arises. To answer this question, the Cameroonian media contacted several analysts.
The first, who is a sports journalist, expressed himself thus: “This text makes no sense, it’s a fabric of falsehoods and gross flatteries. It bears no resemblance to the style or ideas of Claude Le Roy. It’s obvious to anyone who knows the character even a little.”
Regarding the second person contacted, the media stated that he is a “keen connoisseur of the inner workings of the FECAFOOT.”
He responded as follows: “It’s a crude communication operation that plays on Claude Le Roy’s popularity to try to lend credibility to a pro-Eto’o discourse. But it’s so poorly put together that it has the opposite effect: it further discredits those behind this manipulation.” We will come back to this later.
