In a leaked message on social media, the former Secretary-General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) discusses the notable absence of African football figures at the funeral of David Eto’o, the father of Samuel Eto’o Fils.

Constant Omari, former president of the Congolese Football Federation and former Secretary-General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), suspended for one year by FIFA for insider trading in the Lagardere Sports case and a staunch supporter of Samuel Eto’o, speaks out on the absence of officials from the African football world at the funeral of the father of the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

“We are at the wake at Samuel’s family residence. I observe that since my arrival until now, apart from President Ahmad (Ahmad Ahmad, also former President of CAF, suspended by FIFA for corruption), I do not see any African federation presidents or even a representative from the Confederation of African Football. I understand that the notion of the African football family, inherited from our founding fathers and which we had maintained, has completely disappeared. This reflects the spirit of discord prevailing within this family. There is a danger. We need to act differently…,” he posted in an African football group. When the Congolese Constant Omari left his position as CAF SG, he was replaced by his compatriot Veron Monsengo-Omba…

In Cameroon, everyone is commenting. “When I spoke about this on Monday, you said Nyandom puts me to work… how do you explain that an iconic figure of African Football loses his father, and even Drogba, Diouf, Okocha, Fally Ipupa, and others don’t even come to the wake? Anyway, GRAND P was there, that’s the most important,” the whistleblower Shance Lion quips.

“When the Congolese Constant Omari left his position as CAF SG, he was replaced by his compatriot Veron Monsengo-Omba, here one compatriot campaigned for his own compatriot to be ousted from the CAF Presidency, which was done, then in an audio circulating, he said he had to do everything to oust another compatriot who holds a vice-president position at CAF, fortunately that one is a tough nut to crack, the guy is still in office,” Shance Lion continues.
