The suspension of the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) is reportedly linked to his involvement in match-fixing and the signing, in violation of the CAF’s code of ethics, of a contract with a sports betting company.

According to an article by Actu Cameroon on Friday, April 19, 2024, Dr. Patrice Motsepe has been chairing a meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee (“EXCO”) in Rabat, Morocco, since 11 a.m. The meeting is taking place at the headquarters of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (“FRMF”). At the moment, no details are emerging about the discussions of this meeting.

However, several sources in Rabat, Morocco, suggest that the CAF Executive Committee will deliver its verdict regarding an investigation opened by the African football governing body concerning the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) for match-fixing and corruption. While it’s uncertain if this matter is indeed on the agenda, many analysts are reportedly privy to the resolutions being discussed.

It is believed that he will be suspended from all football-related activities for a period of 4 years due to his proven involvement in match-fixing and the violation of the CAF’s code of ethics by signing a contract with the sports betting company, 1XbET. A Normalization Committee will replace the current executive, according to whistleblower Paul Chouta.

There is no official confirmation at this time. Actu Cameroon does not know if the investigation into Samuel Eto’o is on the agenda of the CAF Executive Committee meeting. However, it is confirmed that Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), was expected to appear at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, on April 17, 2024, to be questioned about his role in a corruption and match-fixing investigation within Cameroonian football.
