After losing control of the national team’s coaching staff, the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has once again referred the matter to FIFA to expose the situation within the Indomitable Lions.
While awaiting a response from the world football body, Cameroonian fans opposed to the appointment of a new staff by the Cameroonian government have taken to FIFA’s Facebook page to call for Cameroon to be suspended from all international competitions.
FIFA’s latest publication on 03 June 2024 relates to the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Football. But, according to Radio Equinoxe, the 500 comments under this publication are those of Internet users interested in Cameroonian football who are asking FIFA to suspend Cameroon.
Here are a few examples of these desperate calls:
“Good evening FIFA, here’s the Cameroon Ministry of Sport, which doesn’t want to leave football to Fecafoot and wants to turn football into an instrument of the State. Excuse me, come and help us by handing over all the rights to Fecafoot or simply suspend Cameroon, please save us” wrote Sandrine Nomo Sandrine, Maurine Labelle and Daisy Paola Ngan respectively.
“FECAFOOT staff were prevented from having access to the players called up for the current qualifiers. The Cameroonian gendarmerie and police chased them away to let in the staff appointed by the minister ohh. Fifa, come and help us, I’m sorry,” added Padré OL.
“Good evening dear #FIFA, it would be with great joy and satisfaction that we learn that in the next few minutes, Cameroon has even been suspended for at least five years. We have more serious problems than football,” says Basile Mbamou.
Some are getting impatient:
“We want our country to be suspended immediately, even for 50 years. We’re tired of the state of Cameroon, which is sticking its nose everywhere,” said an irritated Natiana Nas.
“Ayahh, you haven’t answered FIFA since yesterday when we shouted in the comments? Or is it the French you don’t understand? OK…Cameroonains want you to remove the Cameroon team from your lists please. Don’t let us down,” Brünëllë In continued.
A few compatriots replied. “FIFA, the organisation of the match against Cape Verde is perfect… The group is humanly good… and everything is going very well… The hooligans who invade here are cyber criminals who are followers of a Church that has driven them mad… So they need a psychiatric centre,” replied Av’h Papani.
“There’s nothing going on in Cameroon. The state has put down the rebellion and the undisciplined have fallen in line,” adds Karim Istam.
“The Cameroonian people are behind Marc BRYS and are calling for normalisation at Fecafoot. Eto’o must be ousted to save the federation,” added Steph LeRusse.
