Disagreements having persisted for a while, Samuel Eto’o, the president of FECAFOOT, and the Minister of Sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, have been summoned to a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office.
With just a few weeks left before the 3rd and 4th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Cameroonian public eagerly awaits the list of Lions Indomptables selected by Marc Brys. In a context marked by disagreements between the Ministry of Sports and the Cameroonian Football Federation regarding the legitimacy of the new coaching staff, a meeting between MINSEP and FECAFOOT is scheduled for this Tuesday to discuss the new technical, administrative, and medical staff of the Cameroon Indomitable Lions.
According to Camfoot, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute has invited both parties to a crisis resolution meeting. If FECAFOOT under Samuel Eto’o still does not recognize Marc Brys, a compromise may be reached. The head of government undoubtedly wants to avoid a crisis in Cameroonian football. The idea is likely to achieve a reconciliation that converges in the interest of the national team.
“It will certainly involve a reshuffling of the technical staff of the Indomitable Lions. If Marc Brys is confirmed in his position, Omam Biyik could lose his role as assistant coach in favor of David Pagou, the current coach of Stade Renard de Melong. Benjamin Banlock, officially at odds with Eto’o, could lose his role as coordinator of selections in favor of Benoit Angbwa, who held the position under Rigobert Song. Thierry Ndoh could also resume his role as team press officer recently entrusted by MINSEP to Noël Essengue,” our colleagues wrote.
Lions Indomptables supporters eagerly await the conclusions of this meeting, which could have a major impact on the future of football in Cameroon. Tension between FECAFOOT and MINSEP is palpable, and it is crucial for both parties to reach a compromise to avoid an escalation of the crisis.
Marc Brys, the coach of the Lions Indomptables, has completed his tour of contacting players in Europe. The next important step is the publication of his very first list of players to represent Cameroon for the upcoming crucial fixtures on the road to the next World Cup.
