The crisis between FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports, sparked by the appointment of Marc Brys as head coach of the Indomitable Lions, has ended with apologies from Samuel Eto’o.

In Cameroon, Paul Biya acted as referee and blew the final whistle on the match between Samuel Eto’o and the Ministry of Sports. The conflict gripping Cameroonian football seems to have finally come to a close after months of tension.

The crisis reached its peak with the altercation on May 29 between Samuel Eto’o, president of FECAFOOT, and Marc Brys, the coach of the Indomitable Lions. President Paul Biya, informed that his directives on May 13 for a “hybrid solution” for the national team staff, including Marc Brys and Cameroonian members, were not followed, raised the stakes.

Marc Brys and Samuel Eto’o met again on May 30, offering mutual apologies. And the hybrid staff requested by Paul Biya was selected.

“The FECAFOOT acknowledges the involvement of the highest authorities of the country, notably the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, who spares no effort to ensure the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are in optimal conditions for success,” read the statement announcing the new coaching staff of the Cameroonian national team.
