The President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o, was received yesterday by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute.
The President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o, met with the Prime Minister in a closed-door meeting on Tuesday, April 30, during which the former was tasked with carrying out the formalities entrusted to his office and creating a serene atmosphere for the new technical staff to start working as soon as possible, possibly this week.
Indeed, the federation and its president, Samuel Eto’o, not having digested the appointment of a new technical staff by the Ministry of Sports, wanted to engage in a power struggle by appointing an alternative staff. Therefore, this meeting at the Prime Minister’s office yesterday was necessary to definitively decide the outcome of this matter. Little information has circulated about the content of this meeting so far, but according to journalist Richard Naha, it was favorable to FECAFOOT.
“The Presidency has given firm instructions to those involved in the recruitment of the technical staff. FECAFOOT has been restored to its rights,” our colleague said, mentioning the possibility of a rearrangement of the technical, administrative, and medical staff of the Indomitable Lions before the meeting.
Eto’o would thus somewhat prevail after engaging in a power struggle with the Ministry of Sports. While Marc Brys is expected to be confirmed in his position, Omam Biyik could lose his position as assistant coach in favor of David Pagou, the current coach of Stade Renard de Melong. Samuel Eto’o would have until Friday to make arrangements to facilitate the work of the new technical staff appointed by the Cameroonian government and made available to FECAFOOT. The ultimatum is said to have been issued by the Prime Minister, Head of Government. It is worth recalling that the Cameroonian Football Federation has yet to validate the provision of Marc Brys and his staff by the Cameroonian government.
We are gradually approaching the end of the tunnel in this matter concerning the new technical staff of the Indomitable Lions, with this intervention from the head of government.
