The discord currently dividing Cameroonian football is causing quite a stir. Following Samuel Eto’o’s recent remarks against coach Marc Brys, goalkeeper André Onana has chosen a mediator’s role by echoing the words of his teammate Moumi Ngamaleu.

While some of his teammates have taken sides, André Onana has opted to stay out of the conflict between Samuel Eto’o and Marc Brys. In an Instagram story, the goalkeeper chose to share the message from his teammate Moumi Ngamaleu, calling for reconciliation. Ngamaleu urged both parties to end their differences and focus on the players’ well-being.

He believes that unity is crucial for the Cameroonian national team to effectively represent the country. “Dear members of the national team, Cameroon and football have been intertwined for years, bringing honor and recognition to the country over time. The national team represents the country in its joy and diversity, and we players understand the responsibility and honor of wearing this jersey. This responsibility also falls on you.

You must keep the team apolitical and maintain a healthy atmosphere around us to allow us to perform without any issues. We urge you to overcome your differences, put ego aside, and remember that we are all here together to put the Cameroonian people on the world map and make them proud to be part of our country,” wrote Ngamaleu. Onana shared this message of unity.

By sharing this message, André Onana has clearly advocated for unity within the Cameroonian national team. The Manchester United goalkeeper did not directly address the conflict between Eto’o and Brys, but he advocates for both parties to overcome their differences, especially as he is rumored to be the probable captain.

Cameroonian supporters now hope that Samuel Eto’o and Marc Brys will resolve their dispute and work together for the good of the Cameroonian national team. Players, like Onana and Ngamaleu, have called for unity and rallying around the colors of Cameroon. The next important fixture will be the 3rd and 4th matchdays of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Cameroon will first host Cape Verde before traveling to face Angola.
