The turmoil within Cameroonian football continues unabated. Former players, supporters, and internet users seize every opportunity to take sides.

Former Cameroonian international Lucien Mettomo expressed his views on the matter in a statement.

“In light of the dishonorable and spectacular scenes accompanied by insults and disdain towards Samuel Eto’o Fils, President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, by Mr. Tollo Cyrille, Technical Advisor of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, and Marc Brys.

I, as a former Professional Lion Indomptable of Cameroon, firmly condemn Marc Brys’s condescending attitude towards the President of the Cameroonian Football Federation and Mr. Cyrille Tollo during their exchanges.

The entire Cameroon and its Football have been disregarded and humiliated by MARC BRYS AND Mr. Cyrille Tollo. This is an opportunity for me to call upon the large family of footballers, spanning all generations, to stand up and denounce such attitudes whose implications can be fatal for our King Sport.”

As a reminder, these tensions arose following Marc Brys’s appointment as head coach of the Lions Indomptables. A decision by the Ministry of Sports that was not welcomed by the president of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o.

This Thursday, May 30, 2024, Marc Brys and his assistant Joachim Mununga were summoned for a working session at the headquarters of the federation.
