Owen Hargreaves has criticized Manchester United midfielder Casemiro for his role in Burnley’s equalizing goal during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
An Antony goal gave Manchester United a narrow lead after 79 minutes, but the hosts once again let slip three points when Zeki Amdouni converted a penalty three minutes from the end of the match. In a bizarre sequence of play, Brazilian international Casemiro attempted to head the ball back to goalkeeper André Onana, with his looping header causing havoc in the box.
Assessing the penalty incident, former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves insisted that Casemiro was equally at fault, describing his decision not to clear the ball late in the game as “incredible.”
“That header from Casemiro is incredible, I don’t know what he’s thinking,” Hargreaves told Premier League Productions. “Onana comes out and yes, he collides with Amdouni, but Casemiro’s header, it’s just not switched on. At this stage of the game. Onana is going to get criticized but he kept them in the match, he made some big saves today.”
Despite putting on a stellar performance with spectacular saves throughout the game, André Onana unfortunately couldn’t prevent his team from drawing against Burnley (1-1). At fault for the penalty that led to the opponent’s equalizer, André Onana still managed to rescue the Reds Devils, who struggled for much of the match against the offensive onslaught from the Clarets.
