Francis Ngannou categorically refuses to pursue a rematch against Anthony Joshua. Ngannou, the Cameroonian fighter, was unable to match Joshua’s prowess in their bout, succumbing to a knockout in the second round.

The match took place on the night of Saturday, March 9th, in Saudi Arabia, where Ngannou faced the harsh reality of his technical shortcomings in boxing against one of the discipline’s top contenders. Despite impressing against Tyson Fury in October, where he lost by a split decision, Ngannou found himself outclassed by former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

While the Cameroonian people anticipate a rematch between Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua to redeem the defeat suffered on March 8th in Riyadh, the Cameroonian boxer vehemently refuses to pursue such a rematch. In a podcast conducted by Cameroonian YouTuber Philippe Simo, Ngannou stated that such a rematch will never happen.

“A rematch with Joshua? No, never. From the beginning, there was never any talk of having a rematch with Anthony Joshua. Even if I had won, it wasn’t part of the plan. It wasn’t in the contract, whereas for Fury, there is such a clause.”

It’s clear that we won’t see the Cameroonian boxer step back into the ring to face Eddie Hearn’s protege, the current number one in the WBC heavyweight rankings.
