Geremi Njitap, the former star of Real Madrid, refuses to be compared to Samuel Eto’o, especially when it comes to donating money.
Njitap, known for being frugal, is unapologetic about it. To address the debate stirring on social media, the former Cameroonian international takes a firm stance.
He acknowledges that he doesn’t give away his money and even cites criticism from his own family on this matter. Having played for Real Madrid and Chelsea in the 2000s, he openly states he is not like Samuel Eto’o, known for his generosity in charitable donations.
Njitap goes on to explain that even his security guard doesn’t have the privilege of eating at his house and must rely on his salary. “I’m not Samuel Eto’o, my money is mine. He is him and I am me. I didn’t suffer for years to save the whole world. Even my own family complains about me, but I don’t care… If I hadn’t played football, who would have been willing to help me?
I don’t buy sympathy. You won’t hear that I’ve made a massive donation to anyone… Even my security guard doesn’t get meals at my place. His salary is enough,” said the former Indomitable Lion.
He deserves credit for being clear to those who criticized him on social media regarding his financial decisions.
