Appointed by the Ministry of Sports, Marc Brys is eager to collaborate with Samuel Eto’o and the FECAFOOT for the betterment of Cameroonian football.
Since his appointment, the successor to Rigobert Song has found himself at the center of controversy between political authorities and the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). Nonetheless, he wasted no time in getting to work. Marc Brys is keen on having a discussion with Samuel Eto’o to try and ease tensions between the two factions.
“I am ready to work with the federation and its president, in the interest of the team and the country. I hope to meet with him, as I have mentioned before. But I am not one to chase after people, as I need to focus on the team and the players for the upcoming matches,” stated the former coach of Saint-Trond VV. It remains uncertain whether the president of FECAFOOT is willing to meet with the Belgian coach.
After signing his two-and-a-half-year contract with the Ministry of Sports and visiting several stadiums in Cameroon, Marc Brys embarked on a European tour where he met with internationals as well as dual-national players eligible to represent the Indomitable Lions.
The Belgian coach intends to make changes to the squad for the upcoming international window compared to the one that participated in the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
As a reminder, Cameroon will face Cape Verde and Angola respectively in June in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
