Marc Brys, the new coach of Cameroon, is wasting no time and seems determined to strengthen the Indomitable Lions with new dual-national gems. Far from controversy, the new head coach of Cameroon’s national team is hard at work.
The Belgian technician has left Yaoundé for Brussels, where he will begin a tour of several countries to meet players who could be called up for upcoming matches. It is in this context that Alexandre Song, a consultant for CRTV, gave his opinion on some areas that the new coach of the Indomitable Lions should focus on to give a new impetus to the national team.
Indeed, Marc Brys starts his European tour this Friday in Germany and will be in the stands at the Deutsche Bank Park in Eintracht Frankfurt, where several Cameroonian dual-nationals play, including Dina Ebimbe, Jean-Matteo Bahoya, and Hugo Ekitike. For Alexandre Song, having Hugo Ekitike in the den will be beneficial for the Cameroon Indomitable Lions.
“Vincent Aboubakar is the last center-forward we’ve had in Cameroon. He has given so much. He’s nearing the end. Ekitike is young. We should give him his chance. The national team is not the club. He comes to the national team. He can learn from Vincent Aboubakar. I’m not worried about him. He will do us a lot of good. We have young players who will come. Let’s give him his chance,” said the former midfielder of the Indomitable Lions.
The Belgian technician will be in England in the coming days to talk with Carlos Baleba’s entourage to convince the Brighton player to join the Indomitable Lions. Marc Brys aims to integrate the former playmaker of LOSC Lille into the Lions’ den as soon as possible. For Alexandre Song, the young midfielder is the future of the Cameroonian selection.
“I think in the midfield of Cameroon, he’s the future. He’s a promising young talent. Coming to the Cameroonian national team is a plus. Not everyone gets to play in the Premier League. He plays in a top-level league. He has the talent. The coach wants to have a solid team. We have big deadlines coming up. He needs to build a solid team to win these two matches. Baleba is a priority. Pairing him with Zambo and Onana, we have a complete midfield. We have one sitting and two pivots who can do this job. The coach is right to rely on Carlos Baleba, who is a future great for Cameroon,” analyzed the former number 6 of Arsenal on the CRTV Sports platform on Monday, April 15, 2024.
