A tripartite meeting is scheduled today at the Prime Minister’s Office between Samuel Eto’o, Dion Ngute, and Mouelle Kombi to resolve the FECAFOOT-Minsep crisis. In disagreement for some time, Samuel Eto’o, the president of FECAFOOT, and the Minister of Sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, have been summoned to a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The openly declared feud since April 1st between FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education may see a resolution this Tuesday, April 30th.
Indeed, a meeting between MINSEP-FECAFOOT is planned to discuss the new technical, administrative, and medical staff of the Cameroon Indomitable Lions. Disregarding FECAFOOT, the Minister of Sports has appointed and presented the new coach of the Indomitable Lions, Marc Brys. Samuel Eto’o, president of FECAFOOT, rejects the Ministry of Sports’ appointment of Marc Brys as the coach of the Indomitable Lions.
Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute has invited both parties for a crisis resolution meeting. According to the well-informed journalist Richard Naha, a meeting will take place this Tuesday between Eto’o and Mouelle Kombi. The agenda will focus on “the restructuring of the technical, administrative, and medical staff of the Indomitable Lions.”
If FECAFOOT under Samuel Eto’o still does not recognize Marc Brys, a compromise may be reached. Following this meeting, “a new composition of the technical, administrative, and medical staff of the Indomitable Lions will be announced.”
It remains to be seen whether there will be minor adjustments or if Brys’ position will be questioned, which seems unlikely. But according to some insider information, if Marc Brys is confirmed in his position, Omam Biyik could lose his role as assistant coach in favor of David Pagou, the current coach of Stade Renard de Melong.
Benjamin Banlock, officially at odds with Eto’o, could lose his role as selection coordinator in favor of Benoit Angbwa, who previously held the position under Rigobert Song. Thierry Ndoh could also reclaim his position as team press officer, recently entrusted to Noël Essengue by Minsep. For now, there is no clear outcome. However, a resolution to this issue seems imminent. With a month left until the 3rd and 4th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers (against Cape Verde on June 3rd and Angola on June 10th), it’s about time…
