Marc Brys, the new head coach and selector of Cameroon’s flagship team, is on a scouting and networking tour in Europe, as supported by Equinoxe Radio, as reported by Actu Cameroun in a recent article.
According to the blue channel, the first leg of this journey took place on Friday, April 19, 2024, in Germany, where several Cameroonian footballers reside. During this stage, the supervision allowed the Belgian technician and his assistants to assess at least four players during the 30th matchday of the Bundesliga, the local top-flight championship.
“The coach-selector attended Frankfurt’s victory over Augsburg by 3 goals to 1. Two Cameroonians shone brightly in this match. They are Ekitiké, the scorer, and Dina Ebimbe, the provider (two players of French nationality but of Cameroonian origin, noted by Equinoxe Radio). The young central midfielder DINA EBIMBE was immense,” appreciated Germain Noël Essengue, the new team press officer of the flagship national selection.
After making contact with the players, Marc Brys, the new selector, is expected to make his initial selections. “In total, 5 Cameroonians were supervised: Hugo EKITIKE (Striker), Jean junior DINA EBIMBE (Central midfielder), Jean MATTEO BAHOBA (Left winger), Noël FUTKEU (Striker), Jérôme ONGUENE (central defender) not fielded. After the match, the Lions Indomptables’ bench boss exchanged with Mathias Beck, the president of the winning club,” added Germain Noël Essengue.
During his tour in several countries, Marc Brys will meet with players who are likely to be called up to the Lions Indomptables’ den. After making contact with the players, Marc Brys, the new selector, is expected to make his initial choices. Cameroon will play two matches next June, against Cape Verde and Angola respectively, for the third and fourth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
