Renowned journalist Martin Camus Mimb encourages former footballers who wish to pursue a career in sports consultancy to undergo training. Martin Camus Mimb, a respected sports journalist and consultant, applauds former Lions Indomptables captain Benjamin Moukandjo for making a mark on television as a consultant.
Moukandjo has caught positive attention on the Being Sports channel. According to the journalist, this is likely not a coincidence.
“It’s not trivial… If beIN SPORTS were targeting the African market, one might think it’s just for diversity on the panel, as many European channels do. But when a channel without a significant market in francophone Africa chooses a former African international, believe me, it deserves respect. Now, regarding the quality of his consultancy, I’ve listened to Benjamin Moukandjo, and it’s top-notch. Objective and precise. I wanted to congratulate and encourage him,” he wrote in a post on his Facebook account.
Taking advantage of this post, Martin Camus Mimb recommends that former footballers undergo training. Among former Lions Indomptables players, besides Benjamin Moukandjo, there are Patrick Mboma and Aurélien Chedjou who have transitioned into TV consultancy.
“Former footballers need to undergo training to meet the standards of major media outlets. Otherwise, they’ll either end up as consultants on channels focused solely on Africa, or at worst, as perplexing commentators on low-profile shows with audiences limited to local neighborhoods. Training programs are available. Contact us. Congratulations, Captain!” wrote Martin Camus Mimb.
As a reminder, Benjamin Moukandjo retired from international football at the age of 34. He began his consultancy career at RFI. We still remember his farewell, where he expressed fond memories of his time with the Cameroonian national team.
“I was honored to have been entrusted with the captaincy and to have led the team during the 2017 AFCON, for the love and pride of a whole nation… I humbly thank all those who have supported me throughout these years of struggles, sacrifices, pain, but also, and above all, of joys, encounters, and emotions,” wrote the former Stade de Reims player.
