Indomitable Lions: Prime Minister asks Samuel Eto’o to join Marc Brys and his staff

The Prime Minister, head of the Government, “has asked the president of FECAFOOT to collaborate with the new technical staff appointed by the MINSEP.”

Since his appointment, Marc Brys, successor to Rigobert Song, has been at the center of a controversy between political authorities and the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). The head of FECAFOOT has refused to sign the contract of the new coach of the Indomitable Lions, who took office at the beginning of April.

But the openly declared war since April 1st between FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education may be coming to a resolution. This Tuesday, April 30th, a tripartite meeting was scheduled at the Prime Minister’s Office to resolve the FECAFOOT-Minsep crisis.

In the presence of Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, the meeting dragged on for hours, likely indicating lengthy debates. Few details have circulated about the content of this meeting so far, but our colleagues at Magic FM claim that Samuel Eto’o was asked to proceed with the signing of the various members of the technical staff by Friday at the latest, and also to provide Marc Brys and his staff with all the necessary means for a peaceful working environment. In Cameroon, Marc Brys has still not met with President Samuel Eto’o.

“I am ready to work with the federation and its president, in the interest of the team and the country. I hope to see him, as I have already said. But I am not one to chase after people, as I must focus on the team and the players for the upcoming matches,” the Belgian technician confided in an interview with Le Monde newspaper.
