Abdouraman Hamadou Babba revisited the case involving the Cameroon Football Federation and the sportswear brand Coq Sportif.

This case has seen several twists and turns. Since the signing of their contract in 2020, Coq Sportif had maintained good relations with FECAFOOT as the French sportswear brand was responsible for the official team jerseys and attire.

However, in June 2022, seven months after former international Samuel Eto’o took charge of FECAFOOT, the Cameroonian football governing body announced the suspension of its contract with Coq Sportif in favor of another sportswear brand, One All Sports. To justify its disengagement, FECAFOOT accused Coq Sportif of not fulfilling its obligations. On November 4, 2022, the Commercial Court of Paris ordered the continuation of the contract, thus ruling in favor of Coq Sportif.

The Cameroonian Football Federation, led by Samuel Eto’o Fils, lost its appeal in Paris against Le Coq Sportif. The French sportswear brand is demanding over 7 billion FCFA for breach of contract. Speaking on the “La Vérité En Face” program on Equinoxe TV this Sunday, Abdouraman Hamadou Babba commented on the matter:

“The contract with Coq Sportif was unilaterally terminated. The Paris tribunal suspended it and ordered its reinstatement, but the federation disregarded this, and now it will cost us billions. We went to CAS to argue that the federation cannot pay this money because there was unfair management. The individuals who made this decision did not consider the interests of FECAFOOT.

Coq Sportif should have gone to the World Cup, and then we wouldn’t have had a problem. We will have to pay 10 billion. Who will pay these 10 billion because it’s uncertain whether these people will still be here tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. We requested that this money be paid from the personal funds of those who made this decision, notably the current president of the federation.”
