Manchester United fans have criticized André Onana for his error leading to a late penalty during their team’s draw against Burnley.

Erik ten Hag’s men failed to capitalize on their midweek victory against Sheffield United as they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Clarets. Manchester United had taken the lead in the 79th minute thanks to Antony’s first Premier League goal of the season. Just six minutes later, Burnley was awarded a penalty when André Onana misjudged the trajectory of the ball from a cross, inadvertently striking Zeki Amdouni in the face.

Despite being at fault for the penalty that led to the opposition’s equalizer, the Cameroonian still managed to salvage a point for the Red Devils, who had struggled for much of the match against Burnley’s offensive onslaught. However, Man United fans took to social media to express their sentiments, with some calling for the sale of the Cameroonian international. One fan stated: “Please, sell Andre Onana @ManUtd. It’s a humble request. Same mistake over and over again.”

Another wrote, “Onana cost us this match. Anyway, I’ve never seen a goalkeeper make so many errors leading to penalties.”

“How many goals has Onana cost United this season? 2 in the last 2 games… you think the total must be at least 6?” said a third United fan.

United signed Onana for around 50 million euros this summer from Inter Milan, but the Champions League finalist has endured a shaky start to his career at Old Trafford. There have been highly publicized errors against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in the Champions League and a blunder against Brentford in the Premier League. He seemed to have turned a corner last month after winning the club’s Player of the Month award.
