The entourage of Marc Brys denies the information circulating Tuesday evening that his appointment as head coach of the Indomitable Lions would be invalidated.

The saga surrounding the coaching staff of the Cameroon national football team is taking a new turn. The appointment of Marc Brys by the Ministry of Sports in early April as the coach of the Indomitable Lions has been invalidated, the Cameroon Football Federation reported Tuesday in a statement.

Indeed, the technical staff appointed by Samuel Eto’o, president of FECAFOOT, has been suspended by the Conciliation and Arbitration Chamber of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon (CNOSC). According to the federation, the immediate consequence of the CNOSC’s decisions is “the immediate suspension of the Indomitable Lions staff, led by Marc Brys, coach-selector,” as stated in its press release. “FECAFOOT reserves the right to transmit these decisions to FIFA. The emergency committee of FECAFOOT will meet without delay to provide an appropriate response.”

But according to the Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure, which cites Marc Brys’ entourage, this information is fake news. “On Tuesday, the Federation would have invalidated Brys’ appointment and that of his staff, including Joachim Mununga and the legendary François Omam-Biyick.

But according to Brys’ entourage, the news is ‘fake news’. They claim that there is no question of a dismissal. Brys therefore continues the preparation for the World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Cape Verde on June 8 and Angola on June 11,” as reported on DH’s website.

Marc Brys, 61, had been presented by the Minister of Sports to succeed Rigobert Song, whose contract ended in late February and was not renewed by the federation president, Samuel Eto’o.
