In the press conference after the victory against Cape Verde, Marc Brys addressed the administrative issues surrounding the Indomitable Lions.

Brys secured his first win as the head coach of Cameroon despite a tumultuous start due to issues with the Lions’ staff. Over the past few weeks, the Belgian coach has been at the center of attention due to a conflict between FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports.

Despite these challenging working conditions, Brys managed to turn the tide on Saturday. Cameroon faced Cape Verde in a World Cup qualifying match, an opponent within their reach, yet preparations weren’t easy for Brys. He was eager to see how this first match would unfold.

It was a successful debut for Marc Brys. In his first match on the sidelines for the Indomitable Lions, the Belgian coach led his team to a 4-1 victory over Cape Verde. In the post-match press conference, Brys reflected on the administrative problems surrounding the team.

“We can’t hide from it. It should be easier to train, easier to play matches. There’s always something, it’s frustrating, of course. We’re not going to start crying. We’re not going to start fighting.

We have too much work for that, unfortunately. But it’s not productive for the 30 million Cameroonians. It’s not productive, that’s clear. So it’s not up to me, once again, I’m apolitical, I came here to do my job […] Everyone needs to start working together,” he stated.
