Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), is embroiled in an extensive scandal involving allegations of match-fixing in the Cameroonian second division.
Having been summoned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the influential figure in Cameroonian football still awaits the verdict from the African football governing body.
To defend himself before the CAF, the former FC Barcelona striker has enlisted the support of French lawyer Antoine Vey.
In an interview with the British daily, “The Guardian,” Vey staunchly denied the involvement of the Cameroonian football chief in this match-fixing affair.
“M. Eto’o does not acknowledge having participated in a conversation where he clearly discusses corruption. If you listen to the audio, he is trying to reassure the president of a club about certain issues he is facing; he says the problem will be resolved, but he does not say it was through illegal means or anything of the sort,” he clarified.
