Just saying…,” the retired player posted on his Twitter account after the altercation between Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), and Marc Brys, the coach of the Indomitable Lions.
Indeed, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Marc Brys, the coach of the Indomitable Lions, was summoned to the headquarters of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) for a working session. The meeting turned into a heated altercation between the Belgian and Fecafoot president Samuel Eto’o.
“Call security and have him thrown out!”
In a video circulating online, Samuel Eto’o welcomes Marc Brys with a “Welcome home.” He then turns to the technical advisor to the Minister of Sports, Cyrille Tollo. The official had forbidden Samuel Eto’o from speaking alone with the coach of the Indomitable Lions. This led the Fecafoot president to raise his voice.
“Here, you have no say. When I come to the ministry, I respect you. Here, I am the only boss. This is the last time! Call security and have him thrown out! This is the last time, do you understand!” Samuel Eto’o exclaimed, having Tollo escorted out. Subsequently, Samuel Eto’o asks Marc Brys to stay at the Fecafoot headquarters. “So, I beg you, once again, to stay here please.”
“Why are you talking to me like that?” Brys asks. “I am the President. If you want to work with us… You are a coach because I appointed you. You are not a coach because someone else appointed you. You have made many shortcomings. If you do not stay, I am obliged to consult my executive committee as the law requires. So, I beg you, once again, to stay here please,” the retired player said. Marc Brys leaves the room, and Samuel Eto’o instructs his director to convene the executive committee.
