The future coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will likely be a foreigner. For Samuel Lobé, the exclusion of Cameroonian technicians is a scandal.

To succeed Rigobert Song at the helm of Cameroon’s flagship team, the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) has decided to look abroad. According to Samuel Eto’o Fils, the future coach of the Lions will be a foreigner, well-versed in high-level experience. “We will turn to a foreigner,” Eto’o said in an interview with France 24.

But for Samuel Lobé, this approach is scandalous. At the very least, the door should be open to Cameroonian candidates. “This is very serious. Imagine that in France or Switzerland, they say they accept all applications except French and Swiss ones. Maybe I’m the only one outraged. We should accept all applications, and if Cameroonians are not good enough, we don’t ‘sign’ them. It’s terrible, it’s a scandal,” said Samuel Lobé.

Within the Cameroonian opinion, several people have also spoken in favor of a local coach. But after the experience with Rigobert Song, Samuel Eto’o wants an experienced expatriate.
