Samuel Eto’o, President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), issued a lengthy statement on Monday, June 24, 2024, requesting live broadcasting of his hearing at the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Three years after assuming leadership of Fecafoot, Eto’o has stirred numerous controversies and garnered many critics.
On Tuesday, June 25, he will attend a crucial hearing at CAF headquarters regarding an investigation opened against him nearly a year ago.
He must defend himself against accusations of favoritism and match-fixing.
In his statement posted on Facebook, Eto’o stated:
“The President of the Cameroonian Football Federation will request the Confederation of African Football to kindly authorize the live broadcast of his hearing before the Disciplinary Panel, where he will appear on June 25, 2024.
This request, which reflects a deep desire for transparency, is in no way an expression of defiance towards the concerned body; quite the contrary, as the credibility of the continental confederation is an imperative that matters to every serious African sports leader.”
