On the Sunday, June 9, 2024 edition of Vision 4’s Club d’Elites show, a discernment expert and philosophy lecturer at the University of Yaoundé I argued that Cameroon has more pressing issues, such as road construction.

Fridolin Nke claimed during the broadcast that there is currently a plan underway to arrest the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot). “Do you know that currently, there’s a move to apprehend Eto’o? This information comes from reliable sources within high-level security circles. I won’t disclose my sources,” asserted the philosophy lecturer.

In the same program, the academic argued that football is a distraction that steers the country away from addressing its real problems, such as the demand for quality roads. “You know, I’m not much of a football fan. I can tell you that since 1990, I haven’t watched a single football match because there’s so much to be done in this country: just take the Ngaoundéré-Garoua road, and you’ll see how pitiful Cameroon looks,” he continued.

While the victory of the Indomitable Lions on Saturday was the centerpiece of the Sunday broadcast, Edith Akoumba, the deputy editor-in-chief of Vision 4, explained on the show that all credit goes to Marc Brys, the new coach of the Lions, who has left his mark.

“It’s a group that’s morally good, committed, and liberated, which managed to transcend the battles surrounding the management of the national team to reignite the flame of the supporters (…) A first for the new coach Marc Brys, who has managed to impose his authority and leave his mark on this team in full reconstruction,” explained the Vision 4 journalist on the Club d’Elites show.
