Cameroonian NBA hopeful Ulrich Chomche, hailing from Bafang in the West region, has officially declared his intention to enter the 2024 NBA Draft.

The 18-year-old, who is a product of the NBA Academy, is known for his towering presence and defensive prowess, a decision he’s making after garnering attention over the past two years of his career. Chomche represented the Cameroonian national team, participating in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers.

He began his career with Cameroonian basketball club FAP in 2022, then moved on to the Rwanda Energy Group (REG), before joining the Rwandan Patriotic Army Basketball (APR), where he currently plays and competes in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Analysts have dubbed Chomche’s decision as “bold,” considering the unpredictable nature of the 2024 draft. No names have yet emerged as potential top picks. However, Ulrich Chomche is seen as one of the top prospects of his Cameroonian generation since Joel Embiid in 2014.
