After several months of injury, Thibaut Courtois is back. Apparently, the Madrid goalkeeper has recovered well. In the home match against Alavés, the Belgian international was very good.
Making several saves, he ensured his team didn’t concede in this match.
Now, a question arises with the return of the iconic goalkeeper: Lunin or Courtois in goal for the Champions League final against Dortmund? Addressing this significant question, the legendary Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, shared his viewpoint on the goalkeeping situation in Madrid while Carlo Ancelotti is doubtful for the final in London.
He advises the Italian coach to stick with Lunin in goal against Dortmund. According to him, the choice between the two goalkeepers should be carefully considered because there’s no guarantee Courtois will be at 100% in three weeks. Also, it would be quite harsh on Lunin, who has been part of this entire Champions League campaign and has contributed to the success of the Merengues. The legendary Real captain and goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, is also inclined towards this view.
“Lunin has shown that he is a reliable goalkeeper, that he can step up in all circumstances. For me, he should play the final,” he asserted, also explaining that the Belgian still lacks rhythm.
“Courtois has just recovered from an injury. It’s true he played well the other day, but he’s not yet in the rhythm of competition. He has nothing more to prove to anyone, and I am convinced he will regain his level upon his return,” he concluded on the matter.
