Artificial Intelligence has drawn the scheme; the dice seem to have already been cast for the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. The two teams will meet on June 1st at Wembley Stadium, for a final that many observers see as imbalanced.

According to our colleagues at Defensa Central, artificial intelligence has predicted the winner of the Champions League final. It’s the first time that Google’s AI has delved so closely into match results with concrete outcomes regarding what supporters should expect for the Wembley final.

Real Madrid vs Dortmund, AI reveals its numbers

Some Real Madrid fans were nonetheless surprised by the AI’s results. Neither Bayern Munich nor PSG could defeat this year’s finalists, who have had an epic journey to reach London. For this showdown, AI approached the question by pitting Real Madrid’s experience against Borussia Dortmund’s youth. In terms of percentage chances of winning the final, AI places it at 18% for Borussia Dortmund and 60% in favor of Carlo Ancelotti’s men, with up to 22% chance of the match going into extra time or penalties.

On major social networks, Real Madrid supporters are surprised by these figures from AI. The percentage chance of extra time was particularly unexpected for them. It’s true that many observers expect Real Madrid to be ultra-favorites and dominant, but these predictions serve as a reminder that things aren’t as straightforward as they seem. Everything will be decided on the pitch, but it’s clear that both Madridistas and Borussens want to deliver a memorable final to the football world.

Real Madrid vs Dortmund, an exciting fixture ahead

This match will be in good hands. UEFA has announced on Monday the names of the referees who will officiate these decisive matches. For the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, May 1st, Slovenian Slavko Vinčić has been selected.

With ample experience, he had already officiated in the 2022 Europa League final, won by Eintracht Frankfurt (1-1, 5-4 on penalties) against Glasgow Rangers. As for the women’s final between Olympique Lyonnais and FC Barcelona, Englishwoman Rebecca Welch has been appointed. Welch usually officiates in men’s football and has officiated twice in the Premier League this season.

For the Europa League final scheduled for Wednesday, May 22nd between Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen, Romanian Istvan Kovacs has been chosen. This marks his second European final, having previously participated in the 2022 Europa Conference League final, won by AS Roma against Feyenoord. Finally, Portuguese Artur Soares Dias will referee the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday, May 29th, between Fiorentina and Olympiakos.
