Atlético Madrid hosts Real Madrid this Wednesday, March 12th, in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

A high-intensity clash between the two eternal rivals from the Spanish capital will feature several players who, if yellow cards are received, will miss the hypothetical first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

In Atlético’s case, two players are at risk. One of them is one of Diego Pablo Simeone’s most used central defenders: José María Giménez. The other is Ángel Correa.

For Real Madrid, which, along with Benfica, is the second-most yellow-carded team since the start of the Champions League (26 yellows in 11 matches), five players and the coach are at risk.

Ancelotti will be able to count on the presence of Jude Bellingham, who missed the first leg of the derby due to a suspension after receiving his third yellow card of the tournament against Manchester City.

However, five other players are still in danger of missing a hypothetical quarter-final first leg: Rüdiger, Tchouaméni, Camavinga, Modric, and Endrick. All five are one booking away from a third yellow card. Carlo Ancelotti, who has also received two yellow cards (against Stuttgart and Brest), is also in danger.
