FIFA Rankings: Morocco ahead of Belgium and Germany, Senegal makes a strong leap
The International Football Federation (FIFA) released its latest monthly ranking of national teams on Monday, January 19, following the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which took place from December 21 to January 18 in Morocco.

The last update was on December 22, nearly a month after the previous release.
Spain remains at the top of the world rankings with 1,877.18 points, while Argentina holds a solid second place with 1,873.33 points.
Africa’s 2025 champions, Senegal, made a spectacular rise from 19th to 12th in the world.
Morocco also achieved a historic leap, climbing to 8th in the world. The Atlas Lions now sit ahead of Belgium (9th) and Germany (10th), marking the best ranking in their history.

Thanks to their impressive run in AFCON 2025, Nigeria also made significant progress, now sitting at 26th in the world with 1,581.55 points, a jump of twelve spots from their previous ranking of 38th.
