Mo Salah was anonymous as Liverpool’s title hopes suffered a shocking setback against Everton.
Following Liverpool’s discouraging 2-0 defeat to their Merseyside rival Everton, frustrated Reds supporters took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the star forward.
The 31-year-old Egyptian international, who has been a key figure for Liverpool in recent seasons, failed to make a significant impact during the match, managing only one chance created, one key pass, and three off-target shots over the course of 90 minutes.
Liverpool fans want Mo Salah gone
Salah’s underwhelming performance has led some Liverpool supporters to call for the club to get rid of the player, with one fan posting on social media:
“Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, any of you, please get rid of him, I beg you.”
“Al Nassr desperately needs Mo Salah on their right wing if they want to stop Al Hilal and their referees. Salah is predictable now but there, he will thrive,” another added. These comments underscore the growing frustration among Liverpool fans, who had hoped that Jürgen Klopp’s team would pose a significant challenge for the Premier League title in the German coach’s final season at the helm.
However, the defeat against Everton dealt a blow to Liverpool’s title aspirations, with the Reds now sitting in third place in the standings, three points behind leaders Arsenal.
Despite his impressive goal and assist records this season, with 17 goals and 9 assists in 28 league matches, Mo Salah’s recent performances have failed to meet the high standards he has set for himself and the club.
As Liverpool’s season hangs in the balance, calls for the player’s departure from Anfield faithful highlight the increasing pressure on both the player and the team to turn things around in the remaining matches.
