Egyptian striker Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan, aka Trézéguet, has his say on Egypt’s chances of winning the Côte d’Ivoire 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
In an interview on the CAF website, the Egyptian striker judges Egypt’s group to be difficult, but promises that the Pharaohs will be aiming for the trophy.
“It’s a tough group, it’s not easy, all the African teams are strong, they have very good players, we’ll play all the matches as finals and we’ll see what happens. We’ve come here to aim for another trophy. Since our arrival, the whole team has had just one objective, to go and get this new trophy,” said Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan, aka Trézéguet.
For the 29-year-old Trabzonspor player, despite the two lost finals in 2017 and 2021, Egypt has the same ambitions as in the past, i.e. to win the trophy.
“It’s really hard to lose two finals, in 2017 and 2021. It hurts but we’re going to try once again to go for the trophy. We have to get what we deserve and we hope that this time luck will be on our side and that Allah will help us,” promises Trézéguet.
According to Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan, aka Trézéguet, as in the past, Egypt has always had the teams to win the Africa Cup of Nations. “Egypt always has the right team to win. Last time we were in the final, and this time, God willing, we’ll win.
Egypt are in Pool B alongside Ghana, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
