Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly made a major decision for Kylian Mbappé due to the absence of Vinicius Jr.
Real Madrid shone last night with a 3-0 win over Leganés, thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham. However, the joy was tempered on Monday with the announcement of Vinicius Jr’s injury. The Brazilian, injured in the biceps femoris of his left thigh, could be out for a month. Although there were no signs of discomfort during the match, the player complained after returning to the dressing room.
This injury, similar to those he suffered last season, reflects the physical overload of elite players. Fatigued by the succession of matches, “Vini” expressed his feelings on social networks. This absence will prevent him from taking part in the crucial trip to Anfield, a stadium where he has shone in the past, notably in the final of the Champions League 2022.
Mbappé, repositioned on the left
According to Marca, Carlo Ancelotti has decided to reposition Kylian Mbappé on the left in the absence of Vinicius. This seems a logical choice after his successful performance in this position against Leganés. However, questions remain over the rest of the forward line, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding the availability of Rodrygo, who is also injured.
Mbappé was pleased with this repositioning, and commented on his role after the match:
“I think I had a good game in a different position. I can play in any position. My aim is to help the team and do well.”
Carlo Ancelotti also praised his performance:
“He’s more used to this position. Today was better for the team, especially with Vini just coming back. Mbappé played very well. We changed the position of the forwards, and it paid off. The team controlled the match from start to finish. We’re making progress, and we’ll need to confirm this momentum against Liverpool.”
The match against the Reds promises to be decisive for Real Madrid, who will have to show their solidity in the absence of one of their attacking pillars.
