Ansu Fati could leave FC Barcelona in the January mercato, with his return to Catalonia looking increasingly uncertain.

According to a report by SPORT, Ansu Fati’s aspirations of becoming a club legend are in jeopardy, with his agent, Jorge Mendes, reportedly pressing for a departure as early as January. The final decision will rest with Fati, who will consider a loan move if his playing time does not improve.

Fati’s career has been plagued by injuries from November 2020 until the start of the current season, stunting his development. An unsuccessful loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League in the 2023-24 season has not helped his progress either.

Once considered Lionel Messi’s successor, Fati has struggled to establish himself and has featured in just five matches this season under Hansi Flick, four of them as a substitute.

SPORT reports that Sevilla have already expressed an interest in Fati for the winter mercato. Sevilla coach Garcia Pimienta is said to be in regular contact with the club. In addition, former Real Madrid coach José Mourinho is also said to be interested in recruiting Fati for Fenerbahce.
While Fati’s future remains uncertain, the young La Masia player is hoping to get more game time in Barcelona’s next match, a local derby against Espanyol scheduled for Sunday November 3.
