Arda Güler, the young prodigy of Real Madrid, is among the most promising young players in Europe for the upcoming seasons.
Despite his young age, the Turkish international has showcased his immense talent to the world, capturing the attention of Real Madrid’s top brass.
It has been a year since the Madrid club decided to break the bank to secure the services of the young Turkish star from Fenerbahçe. Despite interest from several major clubs vying for Arda Güler’s signature, it was Real Madrid who emerged as the most serious contender.
Fenerbahçe’s Sporting Director, Mario Blanco, discussed the saga preceding Güler’s signing with Real Madrid in an interview with Anadolu Agency.
“The first club to contact us about Güler was Real Madrid, followed by AC Milan, then Barcelona and Dortmund. It appears that Real Madrid had been monitoring the player for a long time.
“The only club that dealt with us seriously regarding Güler was Real Madrid. They were in direct communication with us and then requested permission to speak with the player and his family. Deco, Barcelona’s director, traveled to Turkey to speak with the player and his family. We did not speak directly with him. Later, Catalan journalists reported that Güler was joining Barcelona.
“We were surprised by this news, so we contacted Güler’s family, who confirmed it was not true, nothing had happened. Barcelona contacted us later, made their financial offer, but we had not made any decisions pending Güler’s choice.
“AC Milan also made financial offers; we had three offers on the table. Barcelona was very hesitant during negotiations, as was AC Milan, while Real Madrid was very clear.
“In the end, Real Madrid’s seriousness in concluding the deal and Güler’s decisive desire contributed to closing the deal in favor of Real Madrid. We had extensive discussions with Güler to ensure a better future for him and his family.
“His desire was clearly in favor of Real Madrid; he was happy and thanked us a lot because we were flexible in negotiations with Real Madrid,” Blanco explained.
