Arda Guler has had a very disappointing time at Real Madrid and could leave the club this summer, either on loan or permanently.
Despite his unavailability throughout the season and the injuries and struggles of several attacking players, the Turkish playmaker has not often been selected by coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Güler has made 30 appearances this season, most of them as a substitute. In Real Madrid’s last nine matches in all competitions, he has only played twice: a start against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey and a 30-minute appearance in La Liga against Real Betis.
It’s clear that Ancelotti isn’t particularly counting on the Turk at this stage, which is why some are talking about a move away from Real Madrid this summer, probably on loan – although a permanent transfer isn’t out of the question. Should that happen, he has a preferred destination in mind.
Destination Serie A
According to fussball.news, Guler is open to joining Serie A in the summer transfer window, despite clear interest from clubs like RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen. His decision is said to be heavily influenced by the success of his compatriot Kenan Yildiz with Juventus over the past 12 to 18 months.
In Italy, AC Milan and Inter Milan have both expressed interest in Guler and, at this stage, appear to be the favorites to sign the youngster should he leave this summer. Real Madrid are not opposed to a permanent transfer at this time, but are reportedly looking to maintain some control over his future, which would involve implementing a buyout clause in any deal.
