After a noteworthy Euro 2024 campaign with Turkey, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Netherlands (1-2), 19-year-old attacking midfielder Arda Guler is set to return to Real Madrid for the upcoming season’s preparations. However, he faces a significant challenge: playing time.
With a packed midfield roster at Real Madrid, including players like Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, Dani Ceballos, Brahim Diaz, as well as young talents Nico Paz and Reinier, Arda Guler is far from guaranteed substantial playing time under Carlo Ancelotti.
AC Milan Keeping Tabs
Aware of this situation, AC Milan is reportedly considering a move. According to Spanish media Okdiario, the Lombard club is interested in a loan deal for Arda Guler with an option to buy, a formula previously used for Brahim Diaz from 2020 to 2023. It’s worth noting that the Moroccan international, however, returned to Real Madrid last summer.
Real Madrid’s management will therefore need to decide on the future of the Ankara prodigy: keep him with the risk of limited opportunities, or give him the chance to flourish and gain playing time elsewhere.
