Kylian Mbappé once again has strong chances of being the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or, contrary to the bookmakers’ predictions.
Throughout this season, the Frenchman was touted as the direct competitor to Jude Bellingham in the race for the 2024 Ballon d’Or title.
However, in recent months, Mbappé has slipped down the list of favorites.
According to a study by bookmakers conducted in early May, the French forward no longer ranks among the top three favorites to win the prestigious trophy.
He has been surpassed in the rankings by Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior, who now holds the top spot.
With little help from Paris SG’s elimination in the Champions League semi-finals, the captain of the French national team sees his dream of lifting the 2024 Ballon d’Or slowly slipping away. However, he has just won another equally prestigious trophy. The Frenchman has been declared the player of the year at the Globesoccer Awards.
This honorary accolade allows the French genius to dream and envision the same scenario at the next Ballon d’Or ceremony.
But for now, Kyks is content with his Globesoccer triumph and has expressed his joy on Instagram.
“Proud to be named player of the year. Thank you for the support. The adventure continues,” he posted.
