Jude Bellingham, the frontrunner for the 2024 Ballon d’Or according to bookmakers, is already reaping the rewards of his near-perfect season.
The English international, who transferred from Dortmund to Real Madrid, has swiftly won over the Madrid fans with his immense talent, without needing any time to adapt to the Spanish club.
In his debut season with the current leaders of La Liga, Jude Bellingham has had a stunning campaign, scoring over 20 goals.
His brilliant start in his new colors has already earned him another individual trophy.
On April 22, 2024, the 20-year-old player was notably honored at the Laureus Awards ceremony.
The Laureus World Sports Awards are international sports awards presented annually to athletes across all disciplines. Last year, the trophy was won by Argentine star Lionel Messi. Bellingham has now succeeded Messi.
He expressed his delight at receiving this new award, dedicating it to each of his teammates.
“These past 24 hours have been wonderful, being here with so many amazing athletes. It’s a pleasure, and winning something makes it even more special (…) My teammates are fantastic, the staff is fantastic.
Moreover, the fans have welcomed me very well (…) I think being a football star comes with responsibility. It’s about being a good role model. I’m not perfect, but I want to be a good role model,” he said.
