Barcelona is reportedly considering parting ways with manager Xavi Hernandez, although it would entail a significant expense to terminate his contract.

Barcelona to Sack Xavi

The club has reversed its decision regarding the manager’s future and is set to sack him at the end of the season.

The legendary retired Spanish midfielder led Barcelona to a league title last season but failed to defend it this season.

He has faced internal and external pressures throughout the campaign, leading to his announcement of resignation on January 27, 2024.

However, three months later, he reversed his decision after the club persuaded him to stay beyond the season. President Joan Laporta and Xavi held a joint press conference to announce the decision.

Laporta spoke enthusiastically about Xavi during the announcement, expressing his joy. However, recent reports suggest that the situation has changed.

Indeed, the president is reportedly upset with Xavi for his comments on the club’s financial situation and is considering sacking him. What It Would Cost
According to a report from the Spanish publication MD, via GSFN, it will cost the Blaugrana €20 million to successfully sack Xavi.

The money represents the value of the remaining duration of his contract; however, only a portion of the amount will go to Xavi Hernández, as part of the fees also accounts for settling his coaching staff.

Barcelona’s dire financial situation has been widely publicized, and spending €20 million could prove too significant for them to part ways with and dismiss a manager.

As previously mentioned, Xavi decided to resign at the end of the season, an outcome that would have cost Barcelona nothing.

However, persuading him to continue and now reversing that decision will come at a hefty cost to the club.
