Florent Malouda, the former French international, closely follows the performances of his former club Chelsea.
The player, who passed through Olympique Lyonnais in the 2000s, analyzes the Blues’ game each time and has noticed something.
According to Florent Malouda, even though Chelsea has a strong squad, it lacks one or two players with specific characteristics.
The runner-up of the 2006 World Cup explains that his former team no longer has that player capable of evaluating match scenarios to make the right decisions.
“Chelsea needs one or two players like Toni Kroos. Players with a high football IQ that allows them to analyze every scenario, make the right decisions, and lead the team.
It’s the kind of profile I would look to recruit. We need experienced and ambitious players,” explained the former player. For the former Lyon player, the team lacks a lot of experience, which justifies the inconsistent performances of the club.
Indeed, Chelsea has, for two seasons now, pursued a recruitment policy focused on bringing in young players with high potential.
As a result, many millions of euros have been spent since the arrival of the new owners, but the results have been lacking.
It is in this perspective that Florent Malouda advocates for the recruitment of one or two experienced players like Toni Kroos.
