As the double-header against Arsenal approaches, Real Madrid is facing goalkeeping issues.
Real Madrid’s defensive base has clearly been struggling for the past two years and prone to numerous injuries. Last season, Courtois suffered a torn ACL, as did Militao and David Alaba. This season, the Brazilian and Dani Carvajal have suffered the same injury.
For his part, Thibaut Courtois has been more prone to minor injuries since returning from his ACL injury. He was injured in the first half of the season and has been out again since the international break after picking up an injury with Belgium.
At the press conference, Carlo Ancelotti gave a reassuring message, saying last week that it was only a matter of days, except that the Belgian will, in all likelihood, be absent again against Valencia. Worse for the Italian: Andriy Lunin is also very doubtful because he was injured after the match against Real Sociedad.
Indeed, club sources were able to confirm to Real France that he is suffering from a small tear in his soleus muscle. He is not certain to be available this weekend, and it has already been confirmed that Fran González, the third-choice goalkeeper, will start against Valencia in La Liga before the trip to London.
Regarding the match against Arsenal, Real Madrid remains optimistic, according to an internal club source, as Thibaut Courtois is expected to return. Ancelotti also hopes to have Ferland Mendy and Dani Ceballos back for the Champions League, but nothing is less certain.
