An ex-Chelsea manager surprisingly ranked Cristiano Ronaldo below other players he has coached, despite CR7’s impressive achievements.
Legendary manager Luiz Felipe Scolari claimed that the Portuguese footballer was not the best player he has ever coached.
Scolari’s illustrious career includes trophies with Brazil (2002 World Cup), Portugal, Chelsea, and Palmeiras. He has worked with iconic players such as Ronaldo Nazario, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Frank Lampard, and Didier Drogba.
Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s exceptional skills, Scolari, who coached Portugal from 2004 to 2008, believes he is not the best.
“When I coached him in the national team, it was clear he had many qualities. We had a lot of success in our project, and he played a significant role in it,” Scolari told Arabic media Winwin, via A Bola.
“I cannot say Cristiano is the best player I have ever coached because I have worked with many special players who are still playing today,” he added.
Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score as Portugal came from behind to beat the Czech Republic in the opening match of Euro 2024.
Several pundits have predicted Portugal to win the tournament.
